At odd hours ...
In the middle of the night
Or wee hours of the morning
Did I keep the window open
By mistake
But then the breeze wicked as ever
Swishes them away...
Without taking leave of me
I was never meant to promise them a page
I was never meant to imprison them
With a quil... in ink...in bold letters maybe
I was never meant to own them
I realise of late
But
It's late ....too late....
Oh! So late....

How ethereally, and really quite beautifully, you've described the words and ideas that come and go to never meet the page.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Penelope. The deprivation of an over active brain
DeleteWhat a marvelous way to describe inspiration / words / thoughts ~~~ your poem gave me chills. Brava and Cheers!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Helen. Indebted.
DeleteAh, yes! However, let us be thankful for those which do stay.
ReplyDeleteYes but those which stay have already been convoluted
DeleteBeautifully written and I can relate especially these who come in the middle of the night and than dissappear on a breeze
ReplyDeleteYes, Marja and if you do not capture the moment they are gone forever.
DeleteSo beautifully said... I too have so many worries, hopes, fear as well as ideas come and go away
ReplyDeleteYes, worries and anxieties are universal
DeleteThey always show up in the shower, when I'm driving, or when my corgi insists on one more stroll around the block! I am very grateful for the existence of smallish notebooks to capture what I can.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea Rommy...that small notebook
DeleteThis is so relatable, and your poem is a beautiful personification . I loved it
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I am glad the verse resonates with you.
DeleteI had read it soon after posting and could have been the first commenter. Somehow I couldn't post my comment then. It's an excellent piece of poetry for sure. Many people must be able to relate to it (like me).
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Mathur Sahab. I hope the garland of words stays with you so that you can continue to provide us interesting articles to read and introspect on.
