Oh!! This Night...

Summer moon...

Lying on the cold sheets
Gazing at the stars
I would often fall asleep
Forgetting you
O summer moon
You still shone
At the window
And spread over
My threshold
Your sequined smile

Autumnal wind...

Did you take away
My dear friend
I had carried her back home
On chariots of chrome
She had winked at me
And promised to be mine
Forever
Where does she hide now?
Beneath the caper of the clouds
Darkening deeper my nights

Oh! That frozen smile

I guess winter has arrived
You have lost your sheen a little
Your shine sends chill down my spine
Your bleak visage soothe
My fluttering heart no longer
O ice maiden
Where are the nights warmer ?

Aah spring...

You bring back intoxicating dreams
Your breeze sprays fragrances
Of delight...your blooms are
Ever so bright
The days are sunny and cheerful
The nights have that devilish charm

I know you are no longer mine
Yet I crave for your beatific smile
O spring moon
You have always been my muse
And shall forever remain mine

Far But Near

I know they will never be that close
We shall never cross orbits
They will cluster in their constellation
I in my obscurity will await epochs
To let them know my real self
I am a lone roamer and shall remain so
Neither gravitating towards them
Not letting them encroach my domain
Each to his own ...never mind the invites
I shall never make that inter-gallactic travel
Nor will they bridge the light years of separation
We shall remain content in our axes tilted
But not transgressing that fine zone of "my own"
And some nights when the moon behaves like a stranger
We shall look for each other amidst a nexus of twinkling stars
And call out each other's names through the Silences of the music filtering through the universe
We shall confine our togetherness to distances
unerasable
You in "your own" I in "my own"

What's Not Done

in the womb of the night
i let myself count
what's left undone
in the wink of a moment
they call a lifetime

to grasp the whispered
tales of the wind
to swim away with the
gracious clouds
to playfully whack
the peaks so high
just to startle them out
of their yogic stance
to snooze on the
top most branch
of that tree
so near to my window
yet left  unseen
hugging the shimmers
of a chuckling sun

pirrouette amidst the stars
forlorn
humming the tune
oh so bygone
resting my head against the
crystal arch of the
crescent moon  ЁЯМЩ
and let the goons
wear out their wars

unbind the width of
the azure sky with a
a measuring tape of
sartorial delight
and wrap it around
like a chiffon dress
creases saved
and wrinkles unpressed

to wisk away to a
a god forsaken land
where no-one knows
who i am

throughout this birth
i wasted time in
 weighing my bags
 leaving much undone

will i get a wisp
of a chance
to shirk away
what i ought not done
before the clock's
overwhelming sigh
to swipe away the debris
and say goodbye

PS: I realized from Jim's comment that smartphone readers will find it difficult to read this poem where I have tried to create concrete images of patchwork with words. So for those who read on smartphone, here it is a "normal" version

Night Cape

In the womb of night
We whisper soft lies
To our beloved ones
To make them believe
In this make believe world
Of stars sequined on Earth
And moon's conquest of the sky
A Cinderella tale of fairies and wands
As fickle as the seasons
As free-willed as dunes of sand
Breezes that blow of wants and angst
Shall whip away in no time
The princess of no-land
Then whom shall we whisper
Those unabashed lies
Of stars spreadeagled on Earth
And skyless moon maligned

Let It Be!!

"Let it be....."
I said tossing a lock
In cold air
Stomping a foot
In dust
Pouting like a
Pampered brat
"Let it be......."
I repeated haughtily
As though I never cared
"If dreams break
Let it be
If words dry up
Let it be
If heart loses
The only chance
Let it be
If the world
Turns its back
What do I care
And what do they care
If I lose my way
In dreary desert
Without leaving
My footprints behind
What do they care
Let it be....
Let it be....
Let it be ...."

The mad moon
Looked down
And laughed heartily
Deriding my clumsy
Act.........of not caring
The night air stung

While I swallowed
A lump of ice
Battling a rage

Defeat is not easy
Neither is winning
So...

Let it be....na?

Celebration

Sky afar
Stars glitter
Moon smiles
The night is young
Visions emerge
Dancing waves
Reaches and recedes
Evening song
Croons the breeze
Warming my heart
Melody divine
Destiny adorns
A nebulous haze
Labyrinthine maze
In vain I seek
The path beyond
But will l stall?
Or hesitate?
To surge ahead
In quest forlorn?
Not till my soul
Satiated rests
In bliss sublime
In bond ever strong
Hope is my torch
I lift ablaze
Grit is my arm
Wrapped along
Hold my hand
Despair I lest
Hold me tight
In embrace strong
Stars shall swoon and;
Fall at our feet
Moon shall glow
All day long
We shall then
March in tune
Hug in delight
The horizon beyond
Sun shine then shall
Never elope and
The nights shall
Stay forever young

Danced The Moon All Night

The moon danced all night
Shaking her plumpy bum
"Zoo-Be-Zoo-Be-Zoo-Traa-Laa"
Rap-A-Zap-A-Zap-Dum-Dum"
The sky shimmered a smile
Skimmed out of pain
The stars looked alarmed
Distressed, bored
A few snored
The meteors sighed and remarked
"Oh! She's kinda hyper y' know sometimes"
"Love happens to just a few you morone"
The "moony-eyed" cried unfazed

A little glazed in the eyes
A little dazed in the head
"Love just a Tweet away..."
She crooned
"I wondered whether t' was Britney's latest
"Oh my love  on FB page...." she sang
An octave higher than the mighty Big Bang
Whatttt! I gawked in utter dismay
Even she has an FB profile...?..my...my
What the world's coming to these days!!!!!
Wee hours fellas the party stretched
And would have carried on longer
But a shake and a raucous alarm later
Sob...sob... a hasty goodbye I bade
